Still having trouble?
*Help! My mesh disappeared!
Don't worry! Nothing's deleted. This is probably the most common Blender Blunder for beginners and it's the easiest to fix. With your cursor in the 3D View, press the 1 key at the top of your keyboard. Tada!
Wait. So what happened?
Remember WAY back in the beginner tutorials when I said that the numpad keys did something different then the number keys up at the top? You already know that the NUM keys control the camera, so I guess I can tell you what the others do, even though it probably won't be useful for sculpts.
The numbers at the top of your keyboard toggle the different layers in the Blender 3D space. The default is Layer 1. Think of it like layers in Photoshop, only you're only able to view one layer at a time.
The different layers are useful for people creating complex 3D animations and not much use to sculpty-makers, so I won't go into details here. If you want to learn more about layers, you'll have to look up other Blender tutorials.
